journey to healthy

Sometimes you just get tired. Sick and tired of being sick and tired. After getting over being broken up with for the {what feels like} 100th time, I wanted to make a statement. How crappy are those guys going to feel when they dumped hot me :)

In February 2013 I decided that enough was enough. I started eating clean 90% of the time, which is really hard when you work in a bakery. I started p90x and loved the changes I saw. Its now July, I've lost about 16lbs since February and I am about to start my second round of p90x. I'm not on a diet but I have change the way I eat, and the way I think about food.

Here is my before picture. It is really hard to see this picture because I let myself go. I didn't care about what I looked like, or my health. We only get one body and I want to make mine the healthiest it can be.

Once I realized working out wasn't all that bad, its steadily gotten easier. I miss working out if I go a long time without it.

I have had to re-evaluate my eating habits. Becoming a vegetarian in December of 2012 meant no more meat. Not quite knowing what to replace it with, I became a carb-avor eating pasta, rice and other carbs. Not good! Once I read up on it, and became more knowledgeable, I changed my diet. I now eat well balanced meals that don't include meats or fish. Many people wonder if I am not missing nutrients, but I am not. I get those nutrients from other foods such as eggs, nuts, and vegetables. I have never felt healthier.

Here is my progress picture. I am not where I want to be. I'm getting closer to having the body I feel most comfortable in, and I'm working on it one step at a time. I mess up sometimes and have a bunch of cookies or candy and that's OK. I just make the choice to do it different the next day. There is always tomorrow!

I hope this is motivating to someone. It took me a long time to realize how wrong my eating habits were and how much fun it really is to work out and see your body change. You can do it!!

I'll keep updating this section as my progress comes along. I am also thinking about doing a weekly check-in while I'm doing p90x round 2.
